Re: Topic Tuesday // Burnout // 24 Jan. 7pm AEDT

I know.. it's very easy to be beaten down by the system. Perhaps try a private OT using a GP referral via Enhanced Primary Care Plan which will subsidise the cost?? Feeling for you and hope you find someone who just says YES sure we can help.

Re: Topic Tuesday // Burnout // 24 Jan. 7pm AEDT

What about burn out on the forum? How do we best deal with that? I try to take a break but keep getting sucked in. The events of last night have made me question a lot.

Hi @Tanoozle

there are some threads called " what keeps you going "

"Carers hints and tips " to have a look at xx

Re: Topic Tuesday // Burnout // 24 Jan. 7pm AEDT

Question- I'm not a carer - simply a friend on this forum with other members.
One I've shared a similar experience with overthe wweekend. We really bonded. For want of an appropriate description - she has 'disappeared' & I'm struggling because I am helpless to do anything. I don't know what's happened & as I've been told - I may never know.
I'm so concerned for my friends wellbeing. And I seem unable to focus on anything else.
It's almost like I feel strangled by this - sense of being helpless - but being obsessed about wanting to help.
Not sure what to do or if this is the right forum for this question

Re: Topic Tuesday // Burnout // 24 Jan. 7pm AEDT

Good point @Former-Member

sometimes it is hard to be postive and help others without it affecting us to some point xx

Re: Topic Tuesday // Burnout // 24 Jan. 7pm AEDT

Love that @Former-Member - the importance of recognising what you can control.  In a professional setting so much is beyond our control and yet directly affecting us.

So you've not yet found the joy of 'good enough'?  Now that is a liberation in itself!  Try it on for size.  You might enjoy it x

Re: Topic Tuesday // Burnout // 24 Jan. 7pm AEDT

Thanks @Former-Member for another great topic.
