Question

Hello if i constantly have heart palpation, could it be from ptsd? it got a bit more worse this year compared to last year... emergency dept bc it hurts.. and this year there is a time where it hurt 17 days in a row, well its on and off..  and yea i did lost the friendship i build for 2-3 yrs.. that person said they need space. I keep apologizing for a year and half now. We never get to talk since the first issue.. everyone prophibited me to talk to this person. i forgive and everything. i decided to move on, but sometimes a lot of ppl still sees me weirdly thinking im the fault, and every little mistake i have, they just report it instead of talk to me and coach me one on one. No one really care about me and sit with me.Dr said im okay, blood test result is okay. I just had history of grave disease - Subclinical hyperthyroidism.

Re: Question

Hi @DnzCal and welcome to the forums

Heart palpitations can be a tricky symtom, because they can be caused by such a wide range of things. I do believe that heightened emotions can contribute, as can other factors like certain vitamin deficiencies, so it's great that you got a blood test. If you're still concerned perhaps you could talk to your doctor about getting an ECG? I've actually just done this - I wore the holter ECG for 24 hours because I'd mentioned to my GP that I experience heart palpitations.

If it is something that's bothering you and causing you worry than it's worth following up

Re: Question

i did that last yr, and every result turned to be fine. This year i thought of getting 24hr holter again, but i think.. it just gonna waste my money...

Re: Question

@Ru-bee I have to have a 24 hour monitor fitted tomorrow afternoon. I mentioned to my GP that I think my meds make my heart race and I have a history of irregular heart beats made worse by my anxiety. Back then it was diagnosed as genetic, as both my Mum and my Nan experienced the same. But my GP wanta to make sure everything is okay before we change meds and she puts me on other meds to manage my panic attacks.

@DnzCal I am terrified and anxious about having to wear the monitor and what they could potentially find. So, I understand your concern.

My advice though....talk to your GP and get it checked out.

Re: Question

Good luck with it @MissinTooth! My brother also recently wore the 24 hr one as he was worried but it turned out that his irregular heart beats were due to anxiety. It's quite common and it can be stressful doing any medical tests but I find it comforting when I know that other's have done it and it's been okay.

@DnzCal maybe another approach might be helpful if the GP isn't finding anything physical. Do you have any mental health supports in place?

Re: Question

i will try, thnkyou for your support

Re: Question

@DnzCal  Hello it’s nice to meet you. As others have said heart palpitations can be caused by various things but that does include PTSD. You’ve done the right thing to have a medical check and I’m glad the results came back as healthy.

I’ve also got heart palpitations and had a monitor for about a week and results came back good. I’ve also been getting some pain from them so having blood tests, an ECG and a heart stress test which are all bulk billed for me. I do have peripheral artery disease so my GP is checking to make sure it’s not something more than the complex PTSD and anxiety. Like you and @MissinTooth I get very anxious and scared about these tests which offcourse makes the palpitations worse. I hope very much your test results @MissinTooth  come back excellent. Will be thinking of you. Mine have always come back excellent.
